This combines the confined water dives and the open water certification dives into a three day course taught at the lake. Academics are completed online or in person prior to lake sessions.
After you complete the academic training it's time to enter confined water (i.e. lake or pool) to complete five confined water training dives. During confined water you'll learn how to scuba dive! You will complete five training dives during which you'll learn skills all safe divers master. As you refine your skills you'll learn to become a competent buddy all while under the supervision of a Blue Octopus Scuba Instructor.
We typically use the Confined Water Chinquapin Park Recreation Center & Aquatics or Lake Phoenix for confined water training.
Successful completion of academic and confined water training results in eligibility to complete the four certification or "checkout dives". The checkout dives are generally shallow dives where you demonstrate your mastery of the skills you learned during confined water training. You can complete the certification dives with Blue Octopus Scuba in a local lake suitable for training or we offer trips with our instructors to exciting destinations. Four to five certification dives are required over at least two days to complete certification requirements. Once you've completed all three steps, you'll be a Certified PADI Open Water Diver which allows you to dive to 60 feet with a buddy!
