Freediving

What is Freediving / Breath-Hold Diving Skin Diving / Apnea Diving?

All synonyms for freediving.  If you have ever been snorkeling and decided to leave the familiarity of the surface for a closer look down below, you have just engaged in breath-hold diving! The act of diving underwater with only a breath of air has been around for thousands of years but has only recently begun to gain mainstream acceptance. Those who are new to the sport quickly discover how natural it feels - almost as if awakening a long forgotten ability.

Scuba divers shouldn't scuba dive 12-24 hours before flying.  Freediving lets travelers enjoy one more day in the water.

Breath Hold Divers offers a fundamental education in the practice of freediving in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. We offer Freediving Instructors International (FII) level 1 certification.  Lecture is taught at Blue Octopus Scuba followed by a pool session at Chinquapin Pool and a quarry session the following day.  Follow link to Breath Hold Divers to register.
